Madurai is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world. Situated beside the Vaigai river, it was the erstwhile capital of the Pandyan kingdom and the third-largest city of Tamil Nadu. Your final leg of the journey will be travelling from Kanyakumari to Trivandrum. Also known as Thiruvananthapuram, it was also given the name as the “Evergreen City of India” by Mahatma Gandhi. Trivandrum goes back a long time in history and was an important centre of the Travancore empire.
