DAY 01 – ARRIVE KOLKATA/NEW DELHI
Arrive Kolkata/New Delhi. Check in to Hotel. Overnight.
DAY 02- KOLKATA/ NEW DELHI – PATNA – BODHGAYA
Leave Kolkata/New Delhi for Patna by air. Drive to Bodhgaya where the Buddha attained enlightenment and which is one of the most sacred pilgrimage places for the Buddhist. Enroute visit Nalanda and Rajgir. Nalanda-a great center of Buddhist learning and one of the most famed university citadels of ancient times. Rajgir-it was once the ancient capital of the powerful kingdom of Magadha. From the out-skirts of Rajgir, a historic road leads to Gridha – Kuta or vultures peak where the Buddha preached, here the first Buddhist Council was held after the Lord’s Mahaparinirvana.
DAY 03 – BODHGAYA
Sightseeing of Bodhgaya. Here under the Bodhi Tree, Shakyamuni Gautama attained supreme knowledge to become Buddha, “the Enlightened one” the propounder of one of the great religions of the world. River Nirajnana in which the Buddha bathed after attaining enlightenment flows quietly outside the tiny hamlet. Overnight in Bodhgaya.
DAY 04 – BODHGAYA – VARANASI
Morning leave Bodhgaya for Varanasi by Surface. Later, excursion to Sarnath the place Lord Buddha gave its sermon. Overnight in Varanasi.
DAY 05 – VARANASI – BHUBANESWAR
Early morning cruise in River Ganges and then in time transfer to Airport to catch flight for Bhubaneswar.
Arrival at Bhubaneswar Airport. Meet & greet upon Arrival. Check in to Hotel. Overnight at Bhubaneswar.
DAY 06 – BHUBANESWAR – LALITGIRI – BHUBANESWAR (120KMS / 3HR)
After Morning Breakfast full day Excursion to Lalitigiri (Archaeological site of a Buddhist Monastery from 4th to 8th Cen A D) with Monastery parts and many votive Stupa, all different Buddhist sculptors with Chaita hall and a Huge stupa from where caskets of Budhas relic is available. Later Visit Ratnagiri, the Largest Buddhist monastery we have till know, flourished from 4th to 14th century A D with most of sculptors of Vajrayanic sect, hundreds of Votive Stupa & brick Stupa and huge monastery. Later visit Udaygiri, another huge Buddhist monastery which still under excavation, back Bhubaneswar for overnight stay.
DAY 07 – BHUBANESWAR – DHAULI – KONARK – BHUBANESWAR (80KMS / 2HR)
After Breakfast at hotel visit Dhauli, famous for Asokan Rock Edicts and Place where battle of Kalinga was Fought in 261 B.C that made a great change in the mind of Ashok so that he became Buddhist. Also Visit Peace Pagada. Later visit Pipili appliqu village and World heritage site Sun Temple of Konark (Watch the Buddhist influence on this temple). Back to Bhubaneswar. Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 08 – BHUBANESWAR DROP
After breakfast departure transfer to airport for return/onward journey.
